Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan have had a very long professional relationship.

Saif Ali Khan first tasted success when he co-starred with Akshay Kumar. He had made his debut in Parampara (1992), and then did four films over the next two years. But all of them proved to be duds. His first big success was with Yeh Dillagi (1994) with Akshay Kumar.

Yeh Dillagi was a Yash Raj production and was directed by Naresh Malhota. Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan starred in the movie along with Kajol. Vijay (Akshay Kumar) and Vicky (Saif Ali Khan) are brothers who belong to a rich family. Both of them fall in love with Sapna (Kajol). Sapna is their driver’s daughter, but is also a successful model. Sapna loves Vijay but he is ready to sacrifice his love for Vicky’s sake. However, finally Vicky realizes the truth and the lovers unite. The movie was a huge success and both Akshay Kumar and Kajol were nominated for Best Actor awards.

Yeh Dillagi was followed by another success in the same year. Main Khiladi Tu Anari (1994) was directed by Sameer Malkhan and also starred Shilpa Shetty. Akshay Kumar played a cop Karan, who is on a mission to find his brother’s killer. Saif Ali Khan took on the role of Deepak, an actor. Deepak finds Karan’s work fascinating and wants to hang out with him. Karan agrees on the condition that Deepak helps him to trace his brother’s killers. The movie was very successful at the box office.
