The release of ‘Race 2’, a sequel of 2008 hit of the same name, has been postponed for January 25, 2013. The multi-starrer thriller was earlier slated for November release this year but now producer Ramesh Taurani has delayed the arrival of the film in cinemas.
“Race 2 releases January 25th next year. We felt it was just the right date to release our film,” Taurani said in a statement.
Produced by Tips, the action thriller stars Saif Ali Khan, John Abraham, Deepika Padukone, Bipasha Basu, Anil Kapoor and Ameesha Patel.
“Race 2 is in the same genre and will be made on a grand scale as the original. We will be shooting in Turkey and Cyprus next. The story has plenty of twists and turns and every character will have gray shades,” said Abbas.

The public feud between the Desi Boyz leading lady and producer Ramesh Taurani will soon end on a happy note

While producer Ramesh Taurani can stop fretting over the future of his ambitious project Race 2, Deepika Padukone can wipe off the muck that landed on her image after he called her “unprofessional”. We’ve just heard that the Desi Boyz actor has agreed to complete shooting for the thriller even though the conditions she is supposed to have put forth during the initial peace talks will not be fulfilled. Dippy will be informed as and when decisions are made regarding the shoot and promotions, and not before a month as she had demanded. The model-turned-actor won’t be able to insist on getting her preferred set of designers, hair stylists and make-up artists. Dippy will neither have a say in the matter of nor be consulted about the film’s release date. She won’t even be adamant on her ‘I-won’t-deal-with-middlemen’ policy in her communications with Race 2 directors Abbas Mustan. Our feathered friend told us that the 26-year-old has agreed to treat the film as a regular project and not as a special favour to the producer.

This clearly indicates that despite Dippy’s fast rising star status she isn’t big enough to lay down ‘ifs’ and ‘buts’, especially since she doesn’t have a godfather to back her and is not the bearer of a well-known surname. What can we say? Sometimes you pay a heavy price for a priceless lesson.

She has recently joined the Rs 100 crore club with the reported box-office success of Don 2 and Agneepath. So, not surprisingly, Priyanka Chopra is in demand in Bollywood. Trade sources inform that the actor has apparently been offered over Rs 5 crore to star opposite Saif Ali Khan in the
“She has been offered several films in the last week. As far as Race 2 is concerned, the makers are keen to sign her for a couple of reasons — one, she has entered the big league with two back-to-back hits and secondly, they need to finalise Deepika Padukone’s replacement quickly,” says a trade insider.

On being contacted, Priyanka says, “I have never discussed my remuneration (in the media), and don’t intend to do so now.”
The makers apparently contacted Priyanka after Deepika informed producer Ramesh Taurani that the Race 2 schedule would clash with the dates she has kept aside for Ranbir Kapoor-starrer Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani.

Besides Priyanka, Kareena Kapoor is possibly the only female actor in the Rs 100 crore club with four hit films to her credit — 3 Idiots (2009), Golmaal 3 (2010), Bodyguard (2011) and RA.One (2011).

Ask Priyanka about the new tag and she says, “It feels great when a film does well at the box-office. But when I’m shooting, my first-and-foremost concern is to do my best and leave it at that. My choice of films only has to do with my creative instinct.” This year, Priyanka will be seen in Barfi! with Ranbir and Teri Meri Kahani with Shahid Kapoor.

Over the last month or so, some top brands have also contacted the actor for endorsement deals. “But Priyanka hasn’t had the time. She has already started shooting for Krrish 3 with Hrithik (Roshan) in Hyderabad,” says an insider close to her.

Race to finally end casting woes!
Race 2’s casting woes simply refuse to come to die. To start with, the film was supposed to take off with Sonakshi Sinha, but she opted out claiming that her dates were clashing with Dabangg 2. Jaqueline Fernandes replaced her. Then, Deepika apparently walked out due to date issues with Ayaan Mukerji’s Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani. Later, she rejoined the cast and even shot a schedule at Film City. Meanwhile, the makers roped in Sanjay Dutt for a role in the film. And now, Deepika has again opted out due to date issues.

Not just a lip-lock, the two stars are set to shed some serious inhibitions in a sequence for Race 2

She is not the kind to shy away from an on-screen lip-lock. Remember Bachna Ae Haseeno? But Deepika Padukone has decided to push the envelope quite a bit and after much deliberation, has reportedly agreed to do a rather intimate scene with Saif Ali Khan in Abbas-Mustan’s sequel to the 2008 thriller Race.

Mumbai Mirror has learnt that in the film, which will be produced by Ramesh Taurani, Deepika will shoot her rather steamy sequence with Saif in Mumbai or Turkey. According to a source close to the unit, the actress took some time before agreeing to the scene.

The source explained, “She is a thorough professional. Realising that Race 2 will be slicker than Race, she had a long meeting with Abbas-Mustan and requested the directors to shoot the scene aesthetically.”

His was confirmed by Deepika’s friend, who said, “Yes, Deepika does have a very intimate scene with Saif in Race 2. However, she has requested that the scene be shot in a way that it appears relevant to the script.”

Speaking about the intimate scene, Abbas Mastan said, “It is a turning point in the film.” Producer Ramesh Taurani however refused to comment on the same.

The Abbas-Mustan directed sequel to the action packed high octane film ‘Race’ has been making headlines ever since it was announced. The cast of this multi-starrer already features heavyweights such as Anil Kapoor, Saif Ali Khan, John Abraham, Deepika Padukone, Ameesha Patel and Jacqueline Fernandez. Now the buzz is that Bipasha Basu too would be seen in ‘Race 2’.

It may be recalled that Bipasha featured in ‘Race’ and hence there have been talks that the actress would be seen in the sequel as well. Sources close to the production tell us that with Bipasha being brought on board for the film, there are high chances that John and Bips will be sharing screen space as well in two sequences. However, Ramesh Taurani refused to comment much and said, “Right now, I cannot tell you whether Bipasha is part of film or not.”
